Maternity and Nursery Renovation
SUNY Upstate Medical University
The Dwyer Architectural team provided services throughout all phases of design, from concept to construction documents for the renovation of the Community Hospital’s 53-year-old maternity unit and nursery.
The new Level II nursery, was designed so that it could be converted to a Level III NICU in the future. Each patient bay includes space for family to stay close, while a dedicated private nursery room is large enough for parents to stay right in the room with their child.
The unit also provides shared spaces where patients and families can gather, interact with other patients and share experiences. Dedicated lactation support space was designed to help educate and ease moms with the transition home.
