Cardiovascular Center

Master Plan Implementation

St. Joseph’s Health | Syracuse, NY

The 45,000 GSF Cardiovascular Center was the result of a master plan conducted by the Hospital with Beth Fritz, prior to joining Dwyer Architectural. Having a consistent design leader allowed for a seamless execution of the goals and lean practices that were established early on. The design team worked closely with the hospital’s facilities department, administrative personnel, and numerous clinical teams to deliver a project that met the Hospital’s goals, schedule, and budget. This was a multi-phase, fast-paced, interior renovation project all within the footprint of an existing building and its associated structural limitations.

One of the most significant goals of the Center was to unite all separate  cardiovascular departments into one cohesive team to provide a single destination for patients and their families, as well as consolidating important clinical resources in one location.

The project included design and construction of a new invasive cardiology suite with forty pre-operative/recovery patient bays, one hybrid operating room, two electrophysiology labs, three cardiac catheterization labs, a central waiting area, and all necessary clinical support.  A non-invasive cardiology suite was also designed as part of the project. The design also included an outpatient clinic, four echocardiogram exam rooms, and three stress labs, which were not constructed.
