Bridging Architect for Design Build
Residence Hall
DASNY/SUNY Brockport, Eagle Hall | Brockport, NY
Dwyer’s reputation as a successful Bridging Architect at the University of Rochester brought us to the table to join Trudeau Architects and DASNY to establish the criteria for a new 250-bed Residence Hall for SUNY Brockport. Through the bridging document process, Dwyer worked closely with Residential Life and facilities staff to create standards for all future residence hall projects on the Brockport campus, specifying only products and finishes that had a proven track record for durability and aesthetic quality.
Speed to market was important so the building was to be completed within XXX months of the project’s inception. As the Bridging Architect, we met with over 20 departments in a compressed schedule to create the conceptual design for this new 79,000 gsf building to develop the Bridging Documents that were used for bidding to several Design-Build teams. This was a very positive experience for all involved and Dwyer was asked to continue with the project to oversee the implementation of the Bridging Documents by the design-build team and to represent the interests of the Campus.
The success of this project has led to several other projects for Dwyer with DASNY under our term agreement and at SUNY Brockport.
I want to fit in here somewhere that we did the bridging documents in record time. I believe the building opened within a year of us sitting down/kick off. Beth can you help with this part?
